The auto industry in Ireland has lost one of its true pioneers.<!--more--><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_60852\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-60852\" style=\"width: 270px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-60852\" src=\"http:\/\/www.autotrade.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/Sean-Adams-RIP.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"270\" height=\"278\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-60852\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Sean Adams, RIP.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>While I did not know Sean personally, I have heard on many occasions that he was a real gentleman and equally a great businessman. He had a well grounded personality and a great sense of humour.<\/p>\n<p>He was well known and respected throughout Limerick, Kerry and beyond. His business was built on good service and this helped establish a large and loyal customer base.<\/p>\n<p>Sean was a trained mechanic and established Adams of Glin car sales in the 1940s. His father Michael and Uncle Jack had giving him a good grounding in business and he built his first garage in the 60s for a cost of \u00a31,760 and along with repairs, Sean started to sell cars.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_60853\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-60853\" style=\"width: 376px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-60853\" src=\"http:\/\/www.autotrade.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/Adams-Original-Garage.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"376\" height=\"263\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-60853\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Adams original garage<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>It was in 1969 when he acquired the Peugeot Franchise and in 2019, the business celebrated 50 years with Peugeot. This made Adams of Glin the longest serving Peugeot dealer in Ireland.<\/p>\n<p>It will also mark a celebration of over 75 years involved in the servicing and selling of motor vehicles, making Adams of Glin one of the longest serving motor dealers in Limerick and Kerry.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_60854\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-60854\" style=\"width: 629px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-60854\" src=\"http:\/\/www.autotrade.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/Adam-of-Glin.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"629\" height=\"338\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-60854\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Adams of Glin<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>In 2002 Adams of Glin undertook a major redevelopment of its site, which involved the demolition of its old premises and the construction of a new shop, forecourt, eight bay workshop, parts departments and an 11 car showroom.<\/p>\n<p>Sean also founded the Adams of Tralee business, main dealers for Hyundai and FIAT Professional.<\/p>\n<p>Right up to his passing, Sean was enjoying his well-deserved retirement, despite spending time each day in the Glin showrooms.<\/p>\n<p>Following his death, family members released a warm tribute stating that he will be sadly missed by family, close friends and many friends within the motor industry. The family also thanked everyone for their good wishes at such a sad time.<\/p>\n<p>Sean reposed at Adams of Glin garage on Saturday, 12th February, from 5-8pm, and Requiem Mass was celebrated for him on Sunday at 1pm in Glin Church.
