{"id":31698,"date":"2026-06-05T09:32:43","date_gmt":"2026-06-05T09:32:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.bodyshop.ie\/?p=31698"},"modified":"2026-06-05T11:22:45","modified_gmt":"2026-06-05T11:22:45","slug":"ty-students-restore-classic-porsche-tractor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bodyshop.ie\/index.php\/ty-students-restore-classic-porsche-tractor\/31698","title":{"rendered":"TY students restore classic Porsche tractor"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A group of Transition Year students from the Mercy Secondary School Ballymahon in Co Longford, have completed the restoration of a classic Porsche Junior 108 tractor.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The initiative was part of the Porsche Junior Restoration Project, which gives students hands-on experience in German-engineered tractor restoration, helping to develop mechanical skills and technical understanding.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-31700\" src=\"https:\/\/www.bodyshop.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Screenshot-2026-06-02-at-17.22.37.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"798\" height=\"605\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.bodyshop.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Screenshot-2026-06-02-at-17.22.37.png 2452w, https:\/\/www.bodyshop.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Screenshot-2026-06-02-at-17.22.37-300x227.png 300w, https:\/\/www.bodyshop.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Screenshot-2026-06-02-at-17.22.37-1024x776.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.bodyshop.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Screenshot-2026-06-02-at-17.22.37-768x582.png 768w, https:\/\/www.bodyshop.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Screenshot-2026-06-02-at-17.22.37-1536x1164.png 1536w, https:\/\/www.bodyshop.ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/Screenshot-2026-06-02-at-17.22.37-2048x1552.png 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 798px) 100vw, 798px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The project was supported by Express Spares, Gedore Automotive, and FMK Rustproofing, who, as well as industry know-how, provided two trolleys and full tool sets for use throughout the restoration.<\/p>\n<p>Originally manufactured in 1958, the Porsche Junior 108 tractor underwent a full nut-and-bolt restoration, with key modern features including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Original 822cc single-cylinder air-cooled diesel engine, fully rebuilt<\/li>\n<li>Restored six-speed gearbox with new seals and cleaned transmission system<\/li>\n<li>Complete electrical rewiring to a safe 12V system while retaining vintage styling<\/li>\n<li>Fully stripped, sandblasted, and refinished bodywork<\/li>\n<li>Finished in classic Porsche Red with cream wheels<\/li>\n<li>Reconditioned original detailing including Porsche Diesel badging and trims<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The restored tractor is now being raffled off, with tickets priced at \u20ac50 each.
