<\/p>\nThe Climb4Cancer Challenge, supported by the Irish motor industry takes place this weekend and is on course to raise more than \u20ac20,000 for the the Irish Cancer Society.<\/p>\n
Two well known figures in the car refinish business are taking on a daunting challenge in aid of the Irish Cancer Society.<\/p>\n

Peter Daly, the Managing Director of AkzoNobel Car Refinishes Ireland Ltd, has teamed up with Frank Byrnes from Frank Byrnes Autobody Repairs Ltd in Galway to co-ordinate Climb4Cancer.
\n\u201cIt\u2019s now pretty clear, based on the response and support so far, of the Irish motor trade partners, \u00a0that Climb4Cancer is going to be not just a success, but an outstanding success,\u201d Peter Daly told Bodyshop.ie<\/p>\n
Walkers will be challenged to climb the highest peak in each of Ireland\u2019s four provinces, with the goal of raising over \u20ac20,000 to help fund home care nursing teams. The individual target for each walker is to raise \u20ac1,000 through sponsorship and mini events such as quiz nights.<\/p>\n
The challenge takes place over three days, this Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and the organisers stress that this is a one team event, with walkers representing the motor trade working together to raise as much as they can for vital cancer services all over Ireland.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe all know somebody whose life has been taken or touched by cancer,\u201d says Peter, \u201cit\u2019s something that is certain to affect all of us \u2013 directly or indirectly. So this is a very personal journey for everyone taking part. Everyone\u2019s got a reason.\u201d<\/p>\n
Frank describes the event as a \u201creal challenge but worth every step and every blister to support the Irish Cancer Society\u2019s\u00a0 remarkable work, providing homecare nursing services for cancer patients and their families.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are very happy to be involved and are looking forward to working together with our motor trade partners to make Climb4Cancer a success. Already the good will and support we have received for the event has been amazing.\u201d<\/p>\n
Peter describes the event as \u201ca journey of hope, support and remembrance\u201d. As well as helping the Irish Cancer Society to improve outcomes for sufferers, it will be an opportunity to remember those who have lost their battle with cancer. Ribbons representing loved ones will be carried to the top of each mountain.<\/p>\n
