CVRT operators urged to order approved equipment before 2026 cut-off

Under the Road Safety Authority’s (RSA) updated Premises and Equipment Guidelines, all authorised CVRT centres renewing their three-year authorisation must have vehicle testing equipment installed and operational that conforms to the 2022 PEG specifications by 18th December 2026.

The updated RSA standards set out minimum technical and calibration requirements for essential test equipment, such as roller brake testers, suspension testers, headlamp alignment testers, diesel smoke meters and vehicle inspection lifts.

These updates align Ireland’s testing network with EU Directive 2014/45/EU.

To meet these regulations, Maha Ireland, a supplier of CVRT test lane equipment, has advised operators to confirm their orders well ahead of the deadline to allow adequate lead time for manufacture, delivery and installation.

Maha Ireland sales manager, Stephen Flinter, said: “The RSA’s 2022 guidelines have raised the bar for testing standards across Ireland’s CVRT network. With the compliance deadline approaching, we strongly recommend that operators contact our team before 31st January 2026 to secure their equipment in time for installation and certification. Delays could result in authorisation issues or operational downtime for centres.”

Maha Ireland’s equipment fully complies with the RSA PEG 2022, covering both light and heavy commercial vehicle testing lanes. The supplier provides a complete range of certified products, all compatible with the RSA’s CoVIS IT system for digital test reporting.
