Kia Ireland technician heads to Skill World Cup in South Korea
Kia Ireland will this year be represented at the Kia Skill World Cup by technician William McDonald, as he heads to the biennial event this week in Seoul, South Korea.
The 12th Kia Skill World Cup gets underway this week, where top Kia certified technicians from participating countries are gathering to compete in rigorous practical and written exams.
First hosted in 2002, Kia says the three-day event highlights outstanding technical experts from around the world and enhances the brand’s customer service capabilities.

Representing Ireland, William McDonald of David Buggy Motors in Co Kilkenny, earned his place on the world stage having first claimed victory in the Kia Ireland Skills Competition earlier this year.
He is being accompanied to Seoul by Kia Ireland training manager David Behan, who said the achievement is a “true reflection of William’s dedication, technical ability and commitment to excellence within the Kia network”.
A spokesperson for Kia Ireland also said McDonald’s progression to the world stage is “a testament to the high standards within our dealer network”.
Speaking on the task ahead, McDonald said he is now “looking forward to learning, competing, and meeting talented technicians from around the world”.
In total, 42 national winners will compete in both written and practical tests spanning various fields, including fault diagnosis, powertrain, chassis, and electrical repair.
The top 12 technicians will be honoured with Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Excellence Awards, receiving trophies, medals, and prizes.
